The Flexiss Toolbox

One of the goals that Flexiss has in providing high quality, usable websites and services to our clients is getting your content out on the web in a meaningful way.  One of the ways of doing that is to get your video content on YouTube.  We have worked long and hard to achieve the most friendly interface for you, our clients, to interact with when it comes to interacting with your website.  We have recently added to our arsenal of website arsenal the ability to upload your video content directly to YouTube from your website management screen.  That is, in the midst of creating a new page or blog post (or editing an existing one) you can upload a video to YouTube and embed that same video into your blog or page.  Simple.  Effective.  A time saver.  Below is just such a video.

Cheers,
Scott

Sometimes in Business and in Life it Helps to Have a Hand Up

business training is like a hand upSometimes in the course of our lives we know exactly where we want to go, but we have a hard time figuring out how to get there. It’s in those situations that I see a role for experienced professional training that can offer a “hand up.” And when it comes to experienced professional training, you have to look quite a while before you find a company with more of it under their belt than Klemmer and Associates (K&A), a leadership training organization based in the San Francisco bay area. K&A has worked with corporations such as Aetna, Disney, HP, GE, Suzuki, Sheraton, and many others.

Last Spring I attended an introductory Klemmer seminar (or, as I call it, a “Kleminar”) called a Champion’s Workshop. I found that the Champion’s Workshop opened the door to a host of skills that have helped me to become significantly more effective both on the job and with my family. I’m so sold on the program that I’m paying for each member of the FLEXISS team to go to a Champion’s Workshop as well.

K&A does offer a series of seminars that go beyond the Champion’s Workshop, and they make no secret of the fact that they do. In fact, Tina and I chose to attend a number of other training opportunities put on by K&A. However even if you aren’t interested in doing the same, the 3-hour workshop on January 6th is a terrific value for a very modest investment of time and money.

If you are intrigued, you’re in luck. My wife Tina and I are co-sponsoring a 3-hour Champion’s Workshop on the evening of January 6th (7pm to be exact), and we’re inviting our friends, acquaintances, and clients to come. We have tickets available at the FLEXISS offices which we’re selling at our cost of only $20 each (we can offer a better price if you’d like to buy more than one). I want to stress that this is NOT a money-making endeavor for us.

I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. I’ve done plenty of seminars and read lots of business and personal development books, all of which have given me very useful information. The difference with the K&A coaching method is that it has done more than merely dispense information, it’s dramatically improved the way I manage my business.

Welcome Back Dennis – Our Lead Web Developer has Returned!

We’re pretty stoked about being able to welcome back Dennis Williams, who used to be our lead programmer…and who is now stepping back into that role. Dennis left full-time employment with us about 9 months ago to work as part of a development team for a large-scale ecommerce Website headquartered in Southern California.

Reduced from 2 programmers to just one, our front-line developer Scott Callas has been hammered just setting up new installations, and so we’ve very much missed Dennis’s hardcore programming excellence.

Dennis happens to have more programming experience under his belt that the rest of us put together. Dennis is fluent in a variety of languages and dialects that are critical to our business mission: PHP, Javascript, Jquery, html, xhtml, AJAX, sql. His skills are especially important to our real estate Websites. At least in the Grand Junction area the recent switch in MLS systems (that’s something I’ll have to rant about…er, I mean blog about pretty soon) without any time period for testing has been a wild and unpleasant ride, for our customers especially. Dennis has been graciously helping us out even though his previous employer kept him working 60+ hours per week. But now, within 2 days of being back at FLEXISS world headquarters full-time, Dennis has almost all pending issues with our real estate applications under control.

Not only that, we’re within weeks of releasing the latest version of our Winner Real Estate Website application.

Yep, although we live in the age of open source, already developed, miracle packages such as WordPress and Magento (two packages we rely on pretty heavily), there’s no substitute for having in-house coding talent. So welcome back, Dennis. A full slate of challenges is anxious to put your skills to the test.
